Dickins are proud to be housing all four nominees for the prestigious If.Comedy awards 2008. David O'Doherty, Kristen Schaal, Rhod Gilbert and Russell Kane are all staying in Dickins Festival properties across Edinburgh.
We're now in the home straight of the Edinburgh Festival 2008 with most people packing their bags and leaving town on Tuesday, leaving us with the usual lost keys, keys left in flats, things left in flats, stuff to deal with when we get back to the office on Tuesday after the Monday Bank Holiday. With sets of keys for over 200 flats coming back to the office over a couple of days, you start dreaming about key tag numbers!
Highlights of the festival have been Michael McIntyre who delivered a polished, consistently funny show that had you laughing out loud for an hour. The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel was an electric performance with a real sense of energy and excitement pulsing around the Usher Hall audience and that's not something which happens often. It seemed that only The Scotsman reviewer Kenneth Walton did not enjoy the evening and chose to give the performance a 1 star review despite the reaction of the Usher Hall audience and indeed a similar audience reaction was felt at The Proms the following evening. The arrogance of reviewers really makes your blood boil sometimes and makes you realise that perhaps reviews aren't worth taking too seriously, or perhaps its just Kenneth Walton's reviews which should be ignored.
